Today, i saw a baby dragonfly sitting still, his wings still wet as he came out of one stage of his life, to attempt to dry out and get to the next. It is a risky period where the dragonfly has to remain still and allow his wings to fill out and dry before he can fly away to any safety. For the moment, he just had to wait while exposed to all of natures dangers.
New ideas are much like the dragonfly. It takes time for the idea to become reality, and in that time, the idea is exposed to all the dangers the world has to offer. Most ideas will never make a dime and the few that do seem to come into the category of “who is the first to be second” in it is far less expensive and easier to steal an idea and reverse engineer it and pump it into a big distribution system. I remember the time in Nashville when a singer named Faith Hill came out with an album that had a few smash hits. For the next 9 months every single rehearsal room seemed to have some blond hair blue eyed singer practicing as the other labels wanted to shove another singer out that was good looking and could be shamelessly merchandised for profit and fame.
such is the stuff dreams are made of.
While I am sure I dream often. The idea of actually remembering what I dream about is such a rare occurrence, that when I do remember one, I pay attention. This morning I was lying in bed trying to pray while it was still dark outside. Maybe the prayer was for morning to come quickly. When I closed my eyes, I went into a dream state where two ideas for something out of science fiction and/or will be come reality within 30-40 years when advanced artificial intelligence is not only reality, but also small.
The first I call the “bridge machine” as it is what I guess can be the bridge between current day drones and high performance aircraft and a flying saucer type device that can change and turn directions at alarming speed. I am guessing the craft is unmanned, as I don’t see how a human being could tolerate the forces from such maneuvers in the air.
The second I will call the most beautiful autonomous flying robot I have ever seen. This one, I marveled at how it was fabricated, how it could change direction, speed, shape…. this one I will noodle with on paper.
The last time I had an idea like this, meaning, something out of my normal place of work with human emotion and technology, it was the Agrowbox. Today it has become the agrowvillage.
This/these things and ideas appear to be the stuff of science fiction; yet, I know the technology will soon be there for people to actually use it. I probably will be dead by then, but someone has to dream and work on the ideas now.
Some people watch tv, others movies, some love sports…i love to dream and take ideas and try to make them into reality.
Perhaps the dragonfly and i have something in common. Neither of us is afraid to take the risks to hang out while the wings dry before it can fly away.
If i get this idea to fly, it can really change the way we build and design things.
