It is Sunday afternoon, I confess I am frustrated when one makes plans and while I am ok with them changing, I don’t like to sit around doing nothing and wasting time. If you want to do that, you can go to a beach, sit on top of a mountain, have a picnic, or even just go sit in a café and watch people.
I have no idea why the odd shadow images lately. Maybe it is to write about how we all have an exterior image, yet, we all have darkness in our shadows? Perhaps this is all a spillover from the insanity of people trying to rationalize the commoditization of warfare in a psychology special interest group i am a member of, as simply, “normal” behavior for mankind. When I was younger and a bit dumber, I probably would say, “yeah, just wipe out that which is deemed bad!”
The problem, blessing, or perhaps the curse is that I did get to travel and work in a nice slice of the globe. What it taught me is that wherever you are on the planet, there will be whoever is in power there dictating what is “good” or “bad.” The problem arises in that there are over 6,000,000,000 shades of gray on the planet…yes, the people, aka humanity.
I think I was in my mid 40’s when I got a clue and met another human being that had actually achieved inside his heart and soul what all the holy books talk about. Upon meeting this man, and listening to the illogical solution to a worldly problem I had with some people trying to hurt my life…. I kept looking into his eyes trying to rationalize my desire for retaliation & revenge. He stood there and said, “it doesn’t matter what another does to you, it is how you respond to whatever they think, feel, or do that matters. Forgive them and pray for them.”
Those words led to the biggest war of my entire life. It raged for 6 weeks inside my own heart and soul. If you can imagine the best inside yourself fighting with the worst inside yourself seeming to collide directly in the middle of your heart, then you will understand actual war without ever having to shoot a bullet, rocket, or missile at another human being.
I am not really sure if one can fight this battle alone? if there is not some belief or hope in a higher element of humanity, that being genuine love, that you have to allow to step inside you in order win the war raging inside one's heart?
Maybe that is why the creator of the universe is allowing me to see my shadow these days. The developed world lives inside countries where the quality of life is overall pretty good. It is interesting in that the more developed the country, the more drugs and mental issues it has. I am not sure if this is simply because one has the tools and resources to diagnose things? Or when you get beyond surviving and living, you have the free time and resources to enjoy the “stuff” of life?
What is interesting is that to keep this lifestyle alive, there are shadow wars going on all over the world. These are the wars where countries, companies and groups will do whatever to make gains for themselves on the planet. The funny part about it all is that are people doing the work are covered in the dirt that comes with doing "people plumbing" work for clients on the planet. Much like real plumbers, they are well paid to play with the shit of life. What is funny is usually the people paying for the plumbing tend to appear as fine upstanding, righteous members of society with carefully crafted images of being a really "good" person.
Just because they only write the check for the plumbing, doesn’t mean they don’t have a shadow. They just fear having anyone see it and will hire as many "people plumbers" as needed to keep the pipes clogged.
The moral of the story is this. Humanity and mankind can change and evolve beyond using war as a tool or as a way to commodify humanity. The solution is for each person having to actually take the time to look inside them to wait and see what lurks inside their own shadow.
The good news is, that once you see what’s there, you realize it was pretty stupid to allow such lame fears to keep you from your potential to love.
The bad news is that it is very painful to go to this place inside oneself. It is simply easier for man to point his finger at another man and go to war, even though, it will cost the man far more of himself and potential others than if he just went to war inside himself.
The only way to get rid of the shadows is not to apply more make-up, but simply to allow light to illuminate the darkness.
then you will understand "peace."
