I thought I was working a football game and a boy band showed up.
The elevator doors opened, and I had to do a double take. Four perfectly coiffed men came out in matching suits, shoes and luggage. The four men could have been for a photo shoot for promotion of a new boy band. A team of hair, make-up, and skin care assistants work them over before opening the elevator doors.
My mind thought, “I guess this must be some of the soccer players? Nice team uniform. Who knew they traveled like they are ready for a fashion shoot.”
Mind you, I have no idea about the world of football. In American football, you had two types of people, the skilled positions who spent a great deal of time on image and looking good, and then you had the rest of the team who was more interested in eating food and wearing comfortable and functional clothing. Exfoliation to us was making sure we rinsed the mussels and clams well before making a nice meal out of them.
I looked over to my boss. Hopefully he is at least amused at the lone white guy who speaks English and thankfully understands hand signals well.
As the four men walked by with their matching luggage, I had another thought, that perhaps an airline cabin crew uniform fashion show was happening. Then i thought, "I have never seen a cabin crew on the planet wear such nice clothes."
Part of me was a bit envious, (not really) because i was always a bit envious with people who could wear off the rack clothing. My genetics of American football linebacker body make it impossible for anything to fit without customization or an alteration list so long that tailors are actually thrilled when I walk in the door.
You can see their faces, “Call mom, and tell her it’s going to be a great Christmas this year!
So four well dressed fashion model types with perfectly coiffed hair and I am guessing exfoliated skin walked by me. They were all greeted and went into their room
I looked at my boss, shook my head, and probably had a quizzical look upon my face when I asked, “Referees?”
He smiled, “Yes. Those are the Fussball -Schiedsrichter."
* I could not find a suitable image that did the four ref’s justice, so I have to thank the designer Simon spurr, and pray he has a sense of humor for allowing me to use one of his designs in the photo to give you a rough idea of the visual i saw. Click on the suits to learn more about him.
